RecycloBot
Background Information
In this assignment I was asked to create a critter or robot from everyday household objects or scraps. While building my turtle I was also asked to create a logo for the company RecycloBot and take product photos of our creation!
About the Client
The client, RecycloBot, is a build it yourself toy company that markets their products for people ages 8 to 25. RecycloBot prides themselves in using recycled materials that are biodegradable and environmentally friendly!
The Challenge
The challenge of this assignment was being able to create a logo that felt friendly to a younger demographic. At first I thought that the lasers burning the top of the letters was cool and different but I also had to keep in mind that RecycloBot is a friendly and inviting company that wants to market to towards both genders.
Another challenge was creating instructions that were easy to follow and read well. As a designer I had to keep in mind that the instructions would be read by a younger demographic.
The Solution
Approaching the challenges I researched other DIY and BIY kits to get a good look at how the competitors were able to market their products. The instructions are designed to be able to understand how to put the turtle together without having to even read the instructions! A step by step process of how to build your very own turtle!
The entire process took around the course of 6-7 weeks. From the sketching process to product photography. When I was younger I used to love building Lego sets. This made me excited for the assignment and helped me get into the mindset of who would be opening the box.
